Kanye West says the value of art in society is “sexy” and “creative.”
West’s new album, “Yeezus,” was released last week.
He recently said in an interview with Billboard that he wanted to make a “great album” that was “semi-political.”
“I feel like we’re all trying to create art that’s sexy, that’s creative,” West said.
“I feel that’s what we’re missing.
…
I don’t know if it’s the money or the people, but I feel like there’s something that people can get in exchange for a certain kind of art that you might get if you just go out and try to create something that’s sort of sexy, or creative, or whatever.
I just feel like it’s sexy.”
West said he believes in “making a great album” and he wants to be known for his creativity.
West recently released his first album, the collaborative effort “Tha Carter III,” on June 5.
His second album, titled “Million Dollar Baby,” was due out in September.
West said his music and art has become more “political” over the years.
“For me, that means that my art is political,” he said.
West has also spoken out about his drug use, which he said is “not an excuse for my art to be anything but political.”
