Andy Serkiens, Tom Hanks, Mark Hamil and Mark Strong have all signed on for a new Batman film, but not everyone has seen it yet.
The Dark Knight Returns, which stars Tom Hardy, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane and Jared Leto, is expected to hit theaters on May 6, 2018.
The film is described as a “sequel to The Dark Batman.”
It follows Batman, the Joker, Catwoman, and Scarecrow in a story told through flashbacks.
The Batman films had been scheduled for release before the first of two “sequels” came out, Batman Forever, which was scheduled for October 2016.
Now, with the third installment slated to be released in June 2019, it seems like this is all about getting the Batman films out as soon as possible.
The Dark Man’s Return is set to arrive on Blu-ray on August 22.
The director is Dan Trachtenberg, who helmed The Batman trilogy and also worked on The Darkest Hour, and is helming The Dark Man, which is set for release on October 27.
A number of actors have signed on to reprise their roles from the first film in the Batman series, including Hardy, Serkises, Serre and Hanks.
According to the official press release, The new film will feature a cast that includes: Mark Hamill as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Ben Foster as Alfred, Cillian Murphy as Commissioner Gordon, Amy Adams as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Michael Shannon as Joker, Christian Bale as Lucius Fox, Diane Keaton as Lexie, Christian Slater as Talia al Ghul, Daniel Bruhl as Bruce Banner, Laura Harrier as Catwoman and John Gallagher as Commissioner James Gordon.
Tom Hardy is reprising his role as Bruce in the new film, which he previously directed.
The film will be directed by Dan Trichtenberg.
